For the 2019 Chinese Zodiac keyboard year of the pig (YOTP), Ducky is privileged to collaborate with Master Kulele Ruladen to bring the ducky year of the pig mechanical keyboard to life. We believe that this limited keyboard is a unification of technology and the Formosan culture, hoping to show their spiritual beliefs and vibrant culture to the rest of the world. This keyboard draws inspiration from the rich history of the Paiwan people, a significant indigenous group of Taiwan.
Intricately designed by Master Kulele, a metal cut-out piece of a cosmic god is found on the top side of the keyboard. The Paiwan people believe that wild boars were placed on this earth by the cosmic god to teach them the meaning of bravery and vigor. Therefore, wild boars are highly respected amongst the Paiwan community and are seen as a powerful symbol of strength.
On the golden backplate, Master Kulele depicts courage and tenacity through an image of Paiwan warriors battling wild boars.
Combining traditional culture with modern technology is the concept that Ducky created in recent years. Combined with traditional techniques and techniques, the keyboard is no longer a cold technology product, but a temperature-filled art.
Bronze is commonly used as materials for aesthetic creation by the Paiwan society. After communicating with Master Kulele Ruladen, copper-red was chosen to be presented on keycaps of this limited edition, plus dye-sublimation techniques featuring various pictograms (e.g. ax, bow and arrow, vine).
To inject even more Paiwan traditions into this keyboard, four unique dye-sub keycaps inspired by Paiwan glass beads are included in the package. Love, courage, nobility, and agility are each represented by these keycaps, significant traits in their history.
The Ducky Year of the Pig keyboard will be limited to 2019 pieces worldwide, with each keyboard individually numbered for added collectability.
